TUPPER LAKE, NY — The Hull Trophy returned this past weekend, and while the course was set, the weather had other plans. Battling steady rain over two grueling rounds, players showed up and left everything out there at Tupper Lake Golf Club.

The Hull Trophy is a handicapped net tournament that brought together 24 golfers in the Open Division and 6 in the Junior Division, all fighting through the conditions for the title.

After Round 1, Jay Gagnon set the pace, posting the low score to take the lead into Sunday. For Round 2, the final group of Gagnon, Mark Yamrick, Bradley McLear, and Stacey Clark set out in tough conditions with the trophy on the line. Chasing right behind them was the second group — Dave Williams, Chris Gagnon, John Rabideau, and Nick Skiff — all still within reach.

It all came down to the 18th hole. McLear drained a long birdie putt to finish strong. Gagnon stuck his approach close but missed the birdie. Yamrick, steady under pressure, hit it tight and lipped out his birdie putt as the crowd watched in the rain.

After the rounds were posted, players packed into the clubhouse restaurant by the fireplace, waiting for the final call. When the scores were read, it was Yamrick’s net 139 that held up, crowning him the 2025 Hull Trophy Champion. McLear finished close behind with a 143, and Clark rounded out the top three at 144.

In the Junior Division, Wyatt Trudeau handled the weather and the pressure, posting rounds of 66 and 75 net to claim his title.

The Hull Trophy honors William Hull, a pioneer of Tupper Lake’s lumber industry who donated the land the course sits on today. A rock in his name stands beside the 16th tee box, right outside the clubhouse. We extend a special thank you to William Hull and the entire Hull family for their lasting contribution to the club and the community.

It’s not too late to become a member and join in on the action. Our next members-only event, the Tupper Cup, is set for Sunday, June 8th. Spots are still available — don’t miss out.

Congratulations again to Mark Yamrick and Wyatt Trudeau — your 2025 Hull Trophy Champions!
